How to Complete a Cataract Post-Op Assessment
This guide will walk you through the steps to complete a cataract post-operative assessment efficiently using Lutra Health.
1. Search for or register your patient
A cataract post-op assessment has to be submitted from a patient record. If the patient has already been added on Lutra, then you can search for them. If not, then you can register them.

2. Start New Episode
Once in the patient record, click "Start Episode" to begin a new clinical episode.

3. Choose Assessment Type
Click "Post-operative assessment" to select the assessment category.

4. Select Surgery Date
Click "Select surgery date" to specify the date of surgery. A date must be added - if specific date is unknown, add an estimated date and this can be edited later.

5. Select Surgical Organisation
Click "Select organisation" to choose the organisation who completed the cataract surgery.

6. Select Clinician
If the clinician who completed the surgery is known, then this can optionally be added.

7. Select Eye
Indicate which eye surgery was completed on.

8. Aimed Spherical Equivalent
If aimed spherical equivalent is known, then this can be added, else leave as the default value.

9. Start Measurement
Click "Start" to begin the measurement process.

10. Edit Measurement
If any of the measurement details need to be changed, this can be done via the 'Edit Measure' option.

11. Complete Assessment Section
Click "Complete Assessment" to start the process to submit post-operative data.

12. Provide vision assessment details
Populate vision assessment results. A red asterisk indicates the mandatory fields.

13. Add any post-operative complications
Select which post operative complications are present with the patient. If there are not any, then select 'None'. This list is aligned with the NOD reporting requirements.

14. Examination date
Today's date will be added as the default examination date, but if you completed the examination on a different day, then you have the option available to specify the relevant date.

15. Second eye referral
Indicate if the patient is symptomatic and wishes to have second eye surgery. If 'yes' is selected, this will automatically create a referral for the second eye.

16. Option to upload files
The option is available to upload any relevant images or files. You can upload up to a maximum of 10 files, each of a maximum file size of 10 MB, or 50MB for DICOM files.

17. Add any additional assessment notes
An optional free text field is available where any additional notes can be provided.

18. Review and submit
Prior to submitting the assessment, you have an opportunity to review the information provided and make amendments, if required. Once details are finalised, click submit and this completes the process to provide the cataract post-operative assessment.
